Hot Toddy by Emma Hollander of  Trina’s Starlite Lounge , Somerville MA

1 1/2 oz. Old Overholt straight rye whiskey or Jim Beam bourbon
3/4 oz. spicy syrup (see note)
3/4 oz. maple syrup
4 oz. hot water
2 lemon wedges

Mix ingredients together with a straw. Serve in a mug.

Note: At Trina’s Starlight Lounge, Emma Hollander uses a poblano and jalapeno reduction. We suggest a mild hot sauce in it’s place, but not on the scale of  Tabasco, which has a strong flavor.
