Papa’s Pilar Rum tells BourbonBlog.com they are releasing the most exclusive rum in its ten-year history. Named “Ernest,” after the renowned author Ernest Hemingway, this limited-edition product launches on July 21, coinciding with Hemingway’s birthday. This new offering demonstrates Papa’s Pilar Rum’s decade-long dedication to creating high-quality rums through innovative techniques.

Only 400 bottles of Ernest will be available for a SRP of $599). Keep reading to learn more about how to get a bottle!

Details of the Product

Ernest has been crafted by the 7th Generation Master Distiller, Ron Call, who selected the finest rums from South and Central America. The rums were then aged in newly toasted American Oak barrels before undergoing a double-finishing process in both Cognac and Armagnac casks.

The brand says this meticulous process results in a 100-proof rum with an intricate flavor profile that includes notes of burnt citrus peel, toasted hazelnut, green tea, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla bean, and dark chocolate.

The Bottle Design and Market Insight

Inspired by Hemingway’s personal decanter, the bottle design is a collector’s item. It comes encased in a teal display box with golden foil, wood siding, cream stitching, and gold-riveted piping. Inside, a leather valet reveals the elegant bottle filled with golden rum, marked with Hemingway’s signature, and a backdrop image of Hemingway at Finca Vigia.

The premium rum category has seen significant growth recently due to the exploration of new cask finishes and an increasing desire from consumers to understand the origins of the spirit. Papa’s Pilar leads this trend with its rums’ complex compositions and unique finishing techniques.
