Buffalo Trace Distillery Flooding

On the evening of Thursday, April 10th, Buffalo Trace Distillery confirmed to BourbonBlog.com that floodwaters across its historic campus have receded by approximately 95%, granting crews full access to every building for the first time since the flood began earlier this week.

Yesterday, on Wednesday, about 60% of floodwaters had subsided, and several buildings on campus remained inaccessible. As of today, however, Buffalo Trace confirms that all structures have been entered and evaluated. The damage is now confirmed to be widespread throughout the entire campus.

“We starting to get a clearer picture of the full impact,” a Buffalo Trace spokesperson tells us. “With water levels dropping significantly today, our teams have been able to assess more areas.”

How Have the Bourbon and Whiskey Been Affected?

While much of what has been shared has been on structural access and safety, the distillery has not yet released specific information regarding the condition of its barrels or aging whiskey inventory.

Buffalo Trace will be sharing more updates tomorrow to provide further updates on the extent of the damage and the next steps in recovery.

BourbonBlog.com will continue to monitor the situation and report as more information becomes available.
