Buffalo Trace Distillery tells BourbonBlog.com it releasing Eagle Rare 12, a new age-stated bourbon joining its permanent portfolio.
Aged at least 12 years and bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV), this release uses the distillery’s Mashbill #1. The bourbon arrives as the distillery completes its $1.2 billion, 10-year expansion.
Suggested retail price: $49.99 per 750ml (subject to local taxes and fees). It begins rolling out to select retailers, bars, and restaurants across the U.S. in June 2025, with international markets to follow in Fall 2025.
We have not reviewed, but we think $49.99 seems a reasonable price point for a 12-year bourbon—especially from Buffalo Trace. Does it surprise you? What are your thoughts? Tell us in the comments linked here.

About Eagle Rare 12
Eagle Rare 12 extends the legacy of the award-winning Eagle Rare 10 with additional aging and complexity. Each barrel is aged a minimum of 12 years and hand-selected by Buffalo Trace’s expert team. The flavor opens with a sweet oak and almond aroma, followed by notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and a warm finish of toffee.

“With Eagle Rare, we are always striving but never satisfied, constantly experimenting to enable better-tasting age stated bourbons,” adds Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director.

I suspect the retailors will jack the price up quite a bit

Yea! Yet another product most of us will never see!

Both of the above comments are completely valid. I don’t know if the trend will ever slow down or reverse itself, but for those of us Who love bourbon, are not reviewers, certainly don’t seek these things out to flip them-it is indeed probably another product. We will only hope to somehow find on a bar shelf, Severely overpriced, or perhaps win one in a drawing of our state lottery.
Robert Pangburn
I agree with all three above statements.
