WhistlePig Wheat Whiskey GraveStock Liquid Death

WhistlePig Whiskey tells BourbonBlog.com they’re pouring one out for drinkers who know life’s too short to sip anything but the best — with the release of a high-wheat whiskey aged in charred American oak and proofed with Liquid Death Mountain Water: WhistlePig GraveStock.

This wheat whiskey was aged for several years in traditional American oak barrels before being transferred to a custom, casket-shaped foeder — reportedly 380 gallons in size — for a unique finishing period. It’s the first whiskey of its kind to be both finished in a casket-shaped vessel and proofed with a branded mountain water.

We’ve tasted it at BourbonBlog.com, and while some might wonder if the story outshines the spirit, GraveStock proves otherwise. Honeysuckle and soft florals lead into a creamy mid-palate, finishing with toasted almond and subtle spice. It’s nuanced, expressive, and yes — it’s a killer.

Whistlepig Liquid DeathTwo Industry Firsts: A Bold Collaboration with Liquid Death

With GraveStock, WhistlePig pushes the boundaries of whiskey and the wider alcohol world. This release delivers two major firsts: it’s the first whiskey finished in a casket-shaped foeder, and the first alcoholic product ever proofed with a branded water.

That water is Liquid Death — the viral, metal-inspired brand known for its “Murder Your Thirst” tagline and mountain-sourced purity. In this case, their still water was used to proof GraveStock to 86 proof, adding clarity and edge to the final pour.

“Many bottled water brands are just processed municipal tap water, but our Liquid Death Mountain Water comes from real American mountain ranges that produce some of the best water in the world,” says Greg Fass, VP of Marketing at Liquid Death.

“The custom casket-shaped foeders where GraveStock Wheat Whiskey finds its final resting place are the first of their kind, and a bucket list experiment we – literally – went big on!,” Meghan Ireland, Head Blender at WhistlePig tells BourbonBlog.com. “They add character in a subtle way that lets the nuance of the wheat whiskey shine.

I am a big fan of the 10 and 15 year-old WhistlePig. Their one-offs are always delicious. Though this sounds crazy, I will buy it and try it.
