Unreined Whiskey has opened a four-story, 30,000-square-foot visitor center and Kentucky-style rickhouse at WildHorse Ranch in College Station, Texas—bringing whiskey aging, guided tours, tastings and a new seven-year wheated bourbon together on a 600-acre working bison and cattle ranch.
The destination gives visitors the unusual opportunity to walk inside the environment where Unreined plans to mature whiskey in Texas heat and humidity. The company, founded in 2025 by a group of Texas A&M alumni and whiskey-industry veterans, is also the official whiskey of Texas A&M Athletics.

Kentucky Rickhouse Expertise Meets Texas Aging
Although the facility is firmly rooted in Texas, its architecture and construction connect directly to Kentucky bourbon country. Bardstown-based Buzick Construction built the rickhouse, while Louisville firm Joseph & Joseph designed it.
The structure is engineered to optimize airflow and aging conditions, allowing Unreined to explore how the temperature and humidity at WildHorse Ranch influence whiskey maturation. A custom installation from Houston artist Jesse de Leon adds a Texas creative element to the Kentucky-inspired design.
“Our goal is simple, to age exceptional whiskey in Texas while creating an experience that rivals the best distilleries in the country.”
—Nelson Ingram, Unreined Whiskey Chief Marketing Officer and Blender
Ingram says the combination of temperature and humidity at WildHorse Ranch gives Unreined an environment in which its whiskey can develop rich, complex character.
A New Seven-Year Wheated Bourbon at 104.2 Proof
Unreined is marking the opening with Unreined Wheated Bourbon, a seven-year blend of straight wheated bourbons distilled in Kentucky and Texas and bottled at 104.2 proof.
The company works with multiple distilleries to select whiskeys suited to its Texas maturation environment and then blends them to create its finished profiles. That Kentucky-and-Texas combination is central to the brand’s “Born in Kentucky. Raised in Texas.” identity.
Tours, Tastings and a Speakeasy-Style Lounge
The visitor experience includes guided tours through the ranch and rickhouse, whiskey tastings, cocktails, private events, watch parties and a speakeasy-style lounge. Unreined has also partnered with restaurateur John Harvey Slocum’s restaurant group to serve farm-to-table bison burgers sourced from WildHorse Ranch.
Regular hours beginning August 8 are Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m., with tours by reservation, and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Scheduled public tours are offered Thursday and Friday at 2, 4 and 6 p.m., and Saturday at noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m. The facility is closed Sunday and Monday.
What Makes This Unique
What makes this opening interesting is that Unreined is doing more than adding another whiskey tasting room. It is building a physical identity around three distinct elements: Kentucky rickhouse expertise, Texas maturation and the built-in community surrounding Texas A&M. The seven-year, 104.2-proof wheated bourbon gives visitors a concrete whiskey reason to pay attention while the ranch, lounge and aging experience give the brand room to develop into a genuine Texas whiskey destination.
