Bourbon: Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Seasoned Oak Finish
Distillery: Woodford Reserve, Versailles, Kentucky
Age: No specific age statement
Proof: 100.4; 50.2% abv
Notes: Seasoned Oak Finish is the fourth in the series of limited edition bottlings. Seasoned Oak Finish combines fully-matured Woodford Reserve with barrels crafted from wood that has been exposed to the outdoors for three to five years — the longest seasoning known in the bourbon industry.
Color: Rich mahogany.
Nose: Spicy with definite cigar tobacco hints, as though you’re nosing one before lighting it up. Cinnamon and clove with a nutty oak character.
Taste: Black pepper on the front end and then it becomes a toasty and smokey mix. Notes of wood. On some levels, this Bourbon reminds me of the Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Sweet Mash release last year, however this one has more spice and a larger diffusion of flavor.
Finish: Dry melon, soft.
