From live celebrity interviews to spirit journalists and the country’s top bartenders, the first, historic online event “Derby Day From Home” is being broadcast on BourbonBlog.com/live from 1 pm to 6:45 pm ET, tomorrow on Saturday, May 2. The full schedule has been posted on BourbonBlog.com/DerbyDay, which directs to the invite page on Facebook. It will stream live on BourrbonBlog.com/live.

On a date that would have actually been Kentucky Derby 146, a group of industry experts like whiskey expert Tom Fischer, media and beverage expert Anthony Caporale, The Modern Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim and others will come together to make “spirited history.”

WHAT:

Cocktail courses, spirit education, and also a relevant conversation with industry leaders about what COVID-19 has meant to the hospitality industry, distilleries, and what will happen next. Also, more information
on how people can help support those in hospitality affected by the shutdown.

WHEN:

Saturday, May 2 from 1 pm to 6:45 pm ET, log on to BourbonBlog.com/live to interact with the guests and stream the live video throughout the day.

WHO:

Top bartenders, journalists, and spirit experts PLUS a host of Celebrities including Willie Garson (Sex & the City, 7 Days to Vegas) 2 pm, Tristan Rogers (General Hospital; Studio City) & others

Actors will have a celebratory drink in hand and ready for a virtual red carpet interview.

Background:

The idea was born out of a nightly series created by whiskey expert Tom Fischer interviewing whiskey distillers, bartenders and craft distilleries every night on BourbonBlog Live since the shutdown began due to COVID-19. Fischer’s friends from Drinkhacker.com, Moverssshakers.com, and other media outlets came together to make sure that Derby fans have a party.

“Though I will miss the actual Derby Day and will definitely go when it is rescheduled in September, I’m thrilled that we’ll be able to bring people together in the spirit of an event that Kentuckians hold true to their hearts.”

The Kentucky Derby was only rescheduled one other time in 1945 right after World War II. Of course, this time the concerns of COVID-19 caused the rescheduling.
