Kentucky Bourbon Trail LogoBourbonBlog.com congratulates The Kentucky Distillers’ Association on their first-place honors for a website that promotes the KDA’s Kentucky Bourbon Trail® tour of distilleries!

The Kentucky Tourism Council presented its Traverse Awards for excellence in tourism marketing Oct. 19 during the Kentucky Tourism Industry Annual Conference in Covington.

A panel of marketing, public relations and tourism experts from outside Kentucky judged more than 240 entries in 20 categories on the basis of concept, creativity, design and audience relation.

KDA launched the website – www.kybourbontrail.com – in November 2009. Features include turn-by-turn directions, comprehensive tour information for all six distilleries, the latest news and events, a printable brochure and passport and much more.

More than 100,000 people from all 50 states and 130 countries have visited the website in the past year, said KDA President Eric Gregory. It was created by thevimarcgroup in Louisville.

Even more impressive is the average time spent on the site – nearly 6 minutes per visitor.

“It’s easier than ever to plan your Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour with the new website, and visitors are clearly taking advantage of this valuable resource,” Eric Gregory tells BourbonBlog.com. “We thank the Kentucky Tourism Council for this recognition and its work on behalf of the Commonwealth.”

The Kentucky Tourism Council is a 640-member organization uniting all segments of the Commonwealth’s travel industry through continuing education programs, marketing opportunities and governmental relations. Its website is www.tourky.com.

The KDA, founded in 1880, is charged with promoting, protecting and representing the state’s distilling industry. Its members include Beam Global Spirits & Wine (Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark), Brown-Forman, Diageo North America, Four Roses, Heaven Hill and Wild Turkey.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour features six legendary distilleries, each offering a unique and educational experience on the art and craft of Bourbon-making: Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey and Woodford Reserve.

A concept lots of article marketers overlook is to keep their information short and sweet. Even the most insightful posts can provoke irresistible waves of drowsiness sometimes.
