Buffalo Trace Distillery tells BourbonBlog.com they are releasing their second annual Prohibition Collection, honoring the legacy of the whiskeys produced and sold at the distillery (then known as George T. Stagg Distillery) under President Albert B. Blanton’s leadership during the era of the 18th Amendment. And for those looking to further elevate their experience, there’s a cigar collaboration they are releasing for the collection with Scandinavian Tobacco Group—more details to come below. And for more cigar and whiskey pairing tips, watch this series.
The Buffalo Trace Prohibition Collection #2 will be released in limited quantities through Sazerac’s US distributor network, as of January 2025 at a suggested retail price of $999.99 (five 375ml bottles); state taxes will vary per market.

Prohibition, lasting from 1920 to 1933, banned most alcohol production, sale, and transport. However, Buffalo Trace Distillery was one of only six distilleries granted a license to bottle medicinal whiskey, cementing its place in American whiskey history.
This second edition Prohibition Collection pays tribute to five whiskeys bottled at the distillery during that time: Mirror Brook, Very Oldest Procurable (V.O.P.), Anderson’s Belle, Old Fashioned Mountain Corn, and Silver Wedding Rye Whiskey. Each expression draws inspiration from the original Prohibition-era branding and packaging, reflecting meticulous research from the distillery’s archives.

Details on Each Expression in the 2025 Prohibition Collection
Mirror Brook (100 proof, bottled-in-bond)
Blend of Kentucky Straight Whiskeys
Inspired by a 1932 instruction from Blanton to re-bottle Pre-Prohibition O.F.C. whiskey under a new label, Mirror Brook bursts with ripe cherry on the nose, followed by oak and light rye spice. Vibrant vanilla creaminess mingles with chocolate and rye spice for a sweet, robust finish.

Very Oldest Procurable (V.O.P.) (barrel proof, uncut and unfiltered)
Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Originally bottled (but not owned) by the distillery and formally registered by Blanton in 1932, V.O.P. delivers a bold rye spice punch balanced by toasted oak, vanilla, and rich cherry. The finish remains warm and lingering, with notes of honey sweetness.

Anderson’s Belle (100 proof, bottled-in-bond)
Wheated Bourbon
Once intended to honor a mysterious figure, Anderson’s Belle was released in limited quantities. This modern rendition showcases caramel and maple on the nose, with a backbone of vanilla, charred oak, and gentle dried fruit—rounded out by the signature warmth of wheat.

Old Fashioned Mountain Corn (110 proof)
Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey
Owned and produced by the distillery during Prohibition, Old Fashioned Mountain Corn highlights the sweetness of corn alongside toasted oak and rich caramel. A warm, lingering finish underscores its balance of oak and sweet grain.

Silver Wedding Rye Whiskey (125 proof)
Kentucky Straight Rye
A short-lived, limited release in the Prohibition era, Silver Wedding features vanilla and toffee sweetness paired with subtle leather, toasted oak, and a lively kick of rye spice. The finish is long and pleasant, showcasing that lingering rye warmth.

Each whiskey in the Prohibition Collection is presented in a 375ml bottle, packaged in a custom wooden display case that mimics original designs—complete with a placeholder for the once-required medicinal prescription form.
Cigar Collaboration with Scandinavian Tobacco Group
Launching alongside the whiskeys, Buffalo Trace Distillery has teamed up with the Scandinavian Tobacco Group on a limited-edition cigar set called Buffalo Trace Distillery Prohibition Collection Series #2. Only 750 individually numbered boxes will be produced, mirroring the whiskey collection’s aesthetics.
Each set containts 5 of each cigar epxression and can be purchased on this link.
